New Calor Access Road - Contracts Signed!
Oikos and Calor today signed a contract which gives the go-ahead to the planned private road link between Calor, Haven Road and Roscommon Way.
Planning permission was awarded in February last year and construction is expected to begin in July and complete before Christmas.
The move means that scheduled tanker deliveries will no longer pass through residential areas on Thames Road, Thorney Bay Road and Long Road.
The agreement between the two companies allows the road to pass through land leased by Oikos and represents a significant and on-going investment in Canvey and the local economy.
Oikos and Calor have also signed a long-term agreement to share access to the Calor jetty and other infrastructure.
Colin Horton, MD of Oikos, said:
"When Calor came to us and asked if we could help make life easier for the peopte of Canvey we jumped at the chance. Linking Calor to Roscommon way via Haven Road is common sense and will do a lot of good for the lsland."
Graeme Lockwood, Calor's National Terminals Manager, said:
"I am delighted that we have been able to agree with Oikos the construction of the new road for road tankers to access the Calor terminal. I would like to thank the local residents for their patience and understanding."
